Midnite, one of the UK’s fastest growing betting operators, has unveiled its ‘Built Different Index’, an alternative guide to the Best Football Clubs in the UK.
Midnite’s ‘Built Different’ Index ranks all 92 clubs across the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two using nine categories that look beyond trophies and league position to focus on what makes each club unique, chaotic or genuinely special.
The index analyses a variety of data including: shortest away trip, longest away trip, total distance travelled, average home capacity utilisation, percentage of average attendance from local population, average age of squad, average windspeed, average rainfall vs win percentage and managerial sackings in the past five seasons.
The top results out of each category can be seen below:
- Shortest Away Trip – Cardiff City have the shortest away trip with Reading being 104 miles away
- Longest Away Trip – Bournemouth and Newcastle both have the longest away trip, with both stadiums being 355 miles away from each other
- Total Distance Travelled in 2025/26 – Plymouth Argyle fans travelled the most distance last season, totalling 5,400 miles for one-way trips and 10,800 for round trips
- Average Home Capacity Utilisation (last five seasons) – West Ham United utilised an average of 99.80% of its 62,500 seater stadium
- Average Attendance % of Local Population last season – Brighton & Hove Albion’s Local Authority Population amounted to the highest percentage of stadium attendance (31.50%)
- Average Squad Age (last five seasons) – Peterborough United have the youngest average age in the last five seasons with 23.5, it’s oldest squad was also the youngest with the average age of 24.1 in 2021/22
- Average Windspeed – Barrow have the highest average wind speed of 14.9 miles per hour
- Average Rainfall Vs Win % – Manchester City have the win percentage (78%) in relation to the average rainfall during games (867mm)
- Managerial Merry-Go-Round in last five seasons – Arsenal, Wrexham, Mansfield Town, Harrogate Town, Bromley and Barnet all have the least managerial sackings in the last five seasons with the same manager at the helm since 2020/21
Midnite’s ‘Built Different Index’ explores data that highlight fans more rather than only focusing on performances on the field. This results in a unique dataset which measures climate-based suffering, commitment, loyalty and atmosphere.
Together, they create an alternative league table, one where a club can climb the rankings without having to hope their club wins every game across a calendar season.
