This Sunday sees the first-ever women’s Manchester derby take place at Old Trafford when Manchester United Women welcome local rivals Manchester in the Women’s Super League.

It’ll be a record breaking affair as over 40,000 tickets have now been sold for the clash at the Theatre of Dreams. The previous record was set last year when 30,196 fans watched the team take on Aston Villa.

Manchester United Women Head Coach, Marc Skinner said:

“As a squad, we have shown that we can perform on the biggest stages – winning all our previous games at Old Trafford and competing so strongly in the FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley in May. And of course, many of our players were successfully involved in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand last summer.”

The ticket sales for Sunday’s game are further proof of the growth that the women’s game has experienced in recent years.

“Women’s football is capturing the nation’s imagination like never before, and playing these matches at grounds like Old Trafford can only add to the ever-increasing profile of our team, the WSL and the women’s game in general.”

You can still purchase tickets for Sunday’s Manchester derby by heading to the club’s website.

The game is scheduled for 16.30 GMT on Sunday 19 November and tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £7.50 for fans aged under 16 or over 65.
